If you buy a complete Tattoo kits this comes with the tattoo guns, its best to buy a tattoo kit that has at least 2 guns, and ask supplier that to have one of the tattoo guns set up as a shader and the other a liner, because that way you don’t have to worry so much about the tuning of your guns, after a while you will be able hear the difference in the sound of the guns, try not touch the settings
until you have learnt how to reset them again.
Also make sure that for a liner tattoo gun you have 10 coils and the shader is better of being a 12 coil machine, some times you will find they try and give you a 8 coil machine but i found it just does not have enough power to run for long periods of times

Got The Tattoo Machine, Now What?
After you have received your tattoo kit you will need to start practicing tattooing. Many including myself decide to tattoo on ourselves where as others have trusting friends who lend an arm,leg or what have you. I personally would suggest starting on a piece of fake skin which many tattoo artists practice on before tattooing others. You can’t really erase your mistakes and to get them removed is not very cheap.
Practice doesn’t exactly make perfect but learning your lines and depth of the needle is very important. You will not learn this overnight BUT it is highly important to get
your skill set down BEFORE tattooing others. Your reputation as a tattoo artist can disappear pretty quickly if your work is not up to par.
I Have A Few Tats Under My Belt So What’s Next?
After you have gotten a few tattoos done you will need to work on your portfolio. You also need to focus on designing and putting together your very own flash portfolio which is very important for any tattoo artist. Many people will come to you having no clue as to what tattoo they want. I personally do not like this aspect of tattooing BUT it does happen more times than you could believe.
